DIY:Vintage Chairs

This is a joint blog post, so before I start you should follow my bff Katherine Davis on her blog at http://mattandkatblog.blogspot.com/
A while back I discovered these cute little chairs at Salvation Army. Of course, my best friend and I decided to make a project out of them as soon as I told her about it. It feels like we have had them forever an never found the time to start our creation until now. Katherine and I both have enough chairs in our living space so we made these just for YOU! It took a little more time than expected but it was worth it in the end. If you want to do this yourself it is so easy!

What you need:
-Paint Primer
-Two Paint Colors of you choice
-Sand Paper
-Clear Sealer
-Tape

Here are our chairs before we started! YUCK! but so cheap. You can find so many good pieces of furniture at thrift stores and yard sales for next to nothing. ALWAYS be on the look out.

First things first. We sanded down all the rough spots and wiped down the chairs before we started anything. Yes, we do realize that we need to invest in an electric sander because there is a lot of sanding involved in our projects (sanding by hand is for the birds). Then we put primer on the chairs to get them ready for our real paint.
We chose to paint the majority of the chairs a cream color and added zig zag patterns on the seat! After we painted the chairs cream we taped off our zig zags and painted the inside baby blue and apricot.
Make sure you let the paint dry fully before removing the tape or you will get paint everywhere!! We had to touch up a few spots, but nothing major. It could have been worse.

(Kat perfecting her zigs and zags)
When the paint was completely dry we took the tape off and started sanding AGAIN! We wanted to make the chairs have a vintage feel in some areas. We sanded through all the way to the original dark color to make it look old. We then spray painted a clear coat of sealer to finish it off.
Here is our finished product!! They are so cute and we worked so hard on them we don't want to give them up, but we have no where to put them. They would look so good together or separate. So... together $40 or separate $25. If you want to purchase just contact me or Katherine and we would be happy to get them to you. Good luck with your chairs if you decide to DIY.

Cake POPS

A close friend of mine introduced me to Starbucks cake pops and I've been craving them since then! Since we don't have a Starbucks here in Florence I decided to try to make them myself (scary). I looked on line and did some research on how to make them and came up with a recipe myself (also very scary).

As I posted before cooking or baking is not my thing so you will have to brace yourself for this section of my blog. I hope to get better as I try new things.

What you need:
-Cake Mix (of your choice)
-Icing
-Sprinkles
-Mini Paper Cupcake Holders
-White Chocolate
-Sticks

Here we go!! First, I made the cake mix just like the back of the box says. Ya know the basic eggs, oil, and water deal.

Zeth and I both think the best part about baking a cake cleaning out the bowl of cake batter.

After I baked the cake (and didn't burn it!!!) I took it right out of the oven and crumbed it all up. After all the chunks were out I mixed the icing in with it. It made it a nice texture and thick enough to roll up in balls. Don't make them too big or they wont stay on the stick later.

After I used all my cake/icing mixture I was ready for the fun part!! Well that's what I thought.. Note to self: you CAN burn white chocolate in the microwave. Of course, there are going to be a few bumps in the road in the kitchen for me. Although I didn't think this was possible. Here is what white chocolate looks like burnt..clumpy and stinky. (Read the package on scorching)

So I had to start over with my chocolate, but was very careful not to burn it this time. Then I took the cake balls and rolled them in the melted white chocolate. This part is really messy and most likely there is a better technique than the one I used. I dipped them in a bowl of sprinkles right after the chocolate so they would stick.

I then put the chocolate covered cake balls on a cookie sheet (you should probably use wax paper). Then I stuck sticks into each one. I put them in the fridge for about thirty minutes to let the chocolate harden.

When you are finished it should look like this!!  A cute little cake pop with sprinkles! Not too bad for my first try of something new. These would be so cute to have at a shower or a party. Plus you don't feel that guilty after eating one because it's not like eating a whole piece of cake..but I can't control myself to eat just one.

Keep reading for more fun and easy creations in the kitchen and hopefully I will get better along the way. If you have any suggestions for my next gourmet post please let me know. Have fun making your cake pops!

New Blazer

I recently purchased a statement item for my closet. A couple of weekends ago some friends and I went on a trip to Atlanta. The highlight of the trip for us girls was shopping!! One of my favorite stores in Atlanta is H&M. I can't go in without buying something and for a good price.
After trying on at least 25 items I decided on a few pieces that I thought belonged in my closet. One that stuck out was this navy/white striped blazer. I fell in love when I saw it! It's the perfect jacket for a summer party. I haven't worn it yet because I am looking for some white shorts to pair with it. I was also thinking of wearing my nude pumps or red flats with a white or floral t-shirt under it. The blazer was $39.00 and well worth it!! Although, I wouldn't wear it all the time that is why i like it so much.

Remember it's pieces like these that create YOUR personal style!

Keep reading for more updates in my closet!

Me.

This is long overdue, but hello! If you didn't already know I am Krystina Bole.
This is my diary page where I let you know about my life. This post is kind of an introduction and the basics you should know about me while reading my blog.

I love fashion. I am obsessed with clothing and keeping up with the latest trends. Probably the reason why I chose to study it in school for five years! Yes five years (tried to make it last as long as possible).  I am the manager at a bridal and formal boutique in my hometown, and have been for the past four years. I love the feeling I get when I am a part of choosing the dress of a girls dreams.

My boyfriend and I have been together for five years!! (Dang that's a long time I know). We are truly each others soul mates and were put on this earth for each other.

My best friend and I have been together for almost five years also!! I love Katherine Marie Davis. She gives the best advice and is always on my side! I couldn't ask for a better best friend. We are each others side kicks, never apart. She is also a fellow blogger!  You can view her blog at mattandkatblog.blogspot.com. She has the best ideas to get your home looking fabulous.

I love my friends so much they are a huge part of my life and I could not live without them. They support me in everything I do and are always ready to have a good time. Here are just a few pictures(if you aren't pictured, please forgive me. I just didn't have a good pic: you know who you are!!!) to give you an idea about them. All so different, but all connected to ME!
Me, Jenny, and Emily.
Me, Heather, and Baby Bryson at the pumpkin patch last fall. Best Friends since 8th grade!
Kristi, Whitney, and Jenny.
Victoria and Janae.  My fashionista and beautista.
Me and Jordan.
Me and Whitney. (always looking out for me)
My sweet Maliea.

And then there is my fam. A little crazy at times, but you gotta love em.
My two sweet cousins..Jake and Annastyn. I love them with all of my heart and would do anything for them! Some say Annastyn is a mini me (I say that only when she's nice).

Me, Nana, and Mom. Three Generations of crazzzy women.
My mom and my nana are two of the strongest hearted women I know. Nana is the best grandmother a girl could ask for and probably the smartest person I have ever known. She is literally the glue that holds our entire family together and keeps everyone in line. My mom is the best cook around and nurtures everyone! Her main goal at a family gathering is making sure everyone there is full.
Paw-Paw. He loves his cigars and me :)
Soria, John, Johnny Boy,Morningstar..really whatever comes to mind first. The best step-dad eva!

I really wish I had a picture of my Aunt Michelle to post. I've always looked up to her and want to be the mom, wife, aunt, daughter, and grand-daughter she is to everyone else. She is an amazing woman.

So here ya have it! Just a little background on who I am so while your reading(if you don't already know me) you don't have to wonder. I will post more about my life the diary page so stay tuned!

4th of July Nails

Wanna get your nails festive??
My friends and I were talking all day yesterday about how to paint our nails for the fourth of July. We went over endless ideas in our head and finally decided. Here are some ideas that you could use to show your American Pride on Monday. Some look really difficult to paint (way out of my league).

(Mine)
Just some simple red and blue..oh and my toenails are blue too!! Happy Nail Painting!!
