Anthro Sweater

OK readers!! I'm doing something a little new on the blog. Every week I am going to post a few outfits that I put together from my closet. I'll post what brands and where to purchase. Leave comments and let me know what you think! 

This week we can start off with the cute Anthropologie poncho style sweater that I got from two very special friends for Christmas. It's so comfy and warm in the perfect color of mustard yellowish. This sweater is exactly what I needed for the first cold winter day in Alabama. I paired it with black leggings, a lace undershirt, big turquoise ring and slouchy suede wedge boots.

OK, so I had been dreaming about these shoes for a while and I just had to go for it. They are basically everything you would want in a heel and can make an old outfit into new!

Although, I did have a little trouble with them at first now they are perfect! 

I ordered them off of piperlime.com for $100.00. I got a few discounts here and there with them being $130.00 originally.

 So here is the story: The first time I ordered them the leopard print was off...like they didn't match. I thought I was going crazy because I kept staring at them to see if I should send them back or not. So, I took pictures and sent them out to my closest friends to get some opinions. The verdict was to send them back for another pair. So I did and got these and they are GREAT! I am totally happy with my purchase now. I would have not worn them as much as I do now if I didn't feel comfortable with uneven spots!!

DIY fringe scarf

I discovered an awesome scarf idea and have to share it. 

It is really really cheap and easy! 

A perfect gift idea or project to do with a friend. 

What you need:

-scissors

-XL t-shirt 

I got my shirt in a size 3xl so it would be an extra big scarf! 

It was only $4.47 at wal-mart. 

 First, cut the shirt straight across right under the sleeves. 

 This is what it should look like after you cut it across. 

 Then, cut strips up and down leaving about a five inch gap at the top. The gap is the base of the scarf that goes around your neck. 

 Be patient..it took me around twenty minutes to cut all my strips. After you cut then pull each strip and it makes it a little longer and skinnier. 

This is your finished product!! 

So cute,super easy and fringey!!

Obsessed

Floating City Cape

I am obsessed with this cape. I want it so bad it's all I can think about! If I have to wait till Christmas to get it then it is #1 on my list!! Hopefully I can get my paws on it before then, so I dont have to wait. I found it on freepeople.com for $248.00 and I am waiting patiently for it to go on sale. This perfect little coat will be so cute with colored leather gloves..ahhhhh true love. I HAVE to have it in my closet!!!

Fall Dress

OK so I have been shopping just not updating my closet section of the blog. I will get better I promise. I got this dress at forever21 (one of my all time favorite stores) in NYC. It was only like twenty dollars and its so cute. Its a navy chiffon type material with a tan and orange abstract print. I plan on wearing it in the fall with boots and maybe a scarf. I also bought an orange blazer that will go great with it for cooler weather. Its just one of those dresses you wear a couple of times. Not a major contribution to my wardrobe, but it did catch my eye.

It even has a exposed zipper in the back to add a little something more.

New Blazer

I recently purchased a statement item for my closet. A couple of weekends ago some friends and I went on a trip to Atlanta. The highlight of the trip for us girls was shopping!! One of my favorite stores in Atlanta is H&M. I can't go in without buying something and for a good price. 

After trying on at least 25 items I decided on a few pieces that I thought belonged in my closet. One that stuck out was this navy/white striped blazer. I fell in love when I saw it! It's the perfect jacket for a summer party. I haven't worn it yet because I am looking for some white shorts to pair with it. I was also thinking of wearing my nude pumps or red flats with a white or floral t-shirt under it. The blazer was $39.00 and well worth it!! Although, I wouldn't wear it all the time that is why i like it so much.

Remember it's pieces like these that create YOUR personal style!

Closet

This section of my blog will be straight from my 

CLOSET

Here I plan to post new items that I buy to update my wardrobe. I will also let you in on my sense of style and how I put together my own outfits. Like any typical girl I love getting new things to fill my closet with so this section makes me giddy just thinking about it. Plus, it's just another of my many excuses to go shopping! 

DIY: Pocket Tee

Over the weekend my best friend and I have been working on craft projects. It gave me the inspiration for something to post on my blog. This project is so easy anyone can do it and that's why I love it so much! You can make this pocket t-shirt in any color and using any fabric. Really try to make it your own.

What you need: 

-T-shirt 

- scrap fabric

-scissors

- fabric glue

-thread

-needle

-pins 

Start out with a simple t-shirt. I chose a striped one for a little different look, but you can choose whatever color you like. I bought it at Target for about $10.00. The fabric should be compatible with your shirt. I chose an orange and blue floral print for my pocket. You can find fabric scraps at any fabric store for cheap.They also have fabric squares you can buy for about $1.00. 

The first step is to cut the fabric piece into a square. You can decide how big or small you would like your pocket to be. Make sure to leave a little extra room for folding over the edges. My pocket was about   four inches wide and five inches tall. 

Next, fold over the edges of each side of the square just a little and secure with fabric glue. Make sure you let it dry!! 

When you're finished gluing it should look like this! All sides glued down and ready to make your pocket. 

Then pin down your square exactly where you want it to be on your shirt. I kind of cheated and used my stripe to make sure it was straight. If you have a solid shirt you might want to try it on once you have it pinned so you can make sure its where you want it. 

Now its time for the sewing! (if you cant sew ANYTHING then you could just use your fabric glue) Just sew a simple in and out stitch with your thread and needle. Make sure you don't get carried away and sew the top part (just the two sides and the bottom). 

Then voila!!! You have made a pocket tee for yourself! Easy as pie!
